Microsoft is pouring even more resources into its online video efforts. The company forked over an undisclosed sum for a stake in Move Networks, developer of a technology used for online video delivery.

The companies will partner up on live coverage of the Democratic National Convention, which they will stream on the DNC web site, according to a CNET report. And while Microsoft’s stake in the company is new, the pair have been working together at least since March, when they first forged a partnership.Microsoft has had its eye on TV and online video for more than a decade now, having thrown millions of dollars at it, dating back to its 1997 acquisition of WebTV, a television-based dialup ISP. Microsoft’s most recent efforts — SilverLight, an online media-playing platform used by NBC to stream Olympic events, has gotten mixed reviews so far.

As I reach my tenth wedding anniversary, I often think that we got married in the dark ages. Our wedding pictures were taken on film, for heaven’s sake! The other big change seems to be how the bride treats her bridesmaids. We had a small wedding party, so the only two ladies subjected to my dictates were my sister and my husband’s sister. My sister added a few embellishments to her bridesmaid gown and wore it as a Victorian dance costume, making her one of the few women in the world to actually experience the promise, “Sure, you can wear it again later.”

However, even if they secretly found the vintage style or lavender color intolerable, they suffered nothing compared to the latest trends. Botox! Facelifts! Not only do they bridesmaids wear matching shoes, they can have matching boob jobs.

These brides make for great articles, but I tend to believe those demanding professional spray tans and teeth whitening of the wedding party are in the minority. A dozen of my friends were married in a recent one year period, and time and time again, I was touched by how the thoughtfulness and generosity of the wedding couple. And I do mean couple. These were beautiful days orchestrated by the bride and groom, not gigs dominated by Bridezilla and grudgingly accepted by her fiancé.

One couple carefully listed ingredients to every single dish served at their banquet for the benefit of their vegan, vegetarian, and allergic friends. They even had a separate gluten-free wedding cake so that everyone could enjoy dessert. Another bride and groom provided simple white fans at each seat so that guests could cool themselves while waiting for the ceremony. We asked yet another pair if it would be ok to bring Q-ster to the reception, and when we arrived at our table, not only was there a spotless high chair, but they’d arranged a stuffed toy and a charming story book to entertain him. Their wedding parties looked well loved and happy to be sharing the day with their friends.

It’s fun to laugh and the extremity of asking your BFF to get Botox, but I’m happy to know that most people are much kinder.

here at diy life, posts about weddings are always popular, but often, posts forth knit and crochet patterns come in a close patronize. i thought it might be gripping to combine the two, by looking at a hardly free patterns for the sake of wedding cakes made from yarn. (hey, they don’t have to be frozen, and they never get stale!)suggested uses? the sachets would sign great giveaways at a bridal shower; they’d also make nice parcel decorations as a replacement for gifts. some of the projects might make cute gifts by reason of attendants, in the right species of wedding. they would be fun commemorations of a special anniversary, or whimsical decor in the right well-intentioned of elbow-room. professional wedding planners could also presumably appreciate them. outside of the wedding framework, you can always choose distinct colors, changing the “wedding cake” into a “birthday cake” — or merely making a cute trinket seeing that a friend who loves sweet desserts.and if you’re looking for more patterns like this, check out an older post of mine — amigurumi-o-rama: crocheted food.

Spc Jeremy Hinzman, 29, was told his family’s application for refugee status had been turned down by Canada.

His supporters say Spc Hinzman, who had already served a tour of duty in Afghanistan, was the first Iraq war resister to seek sanctuary in Canada.

Lee Zaslofsky, a spokesman for the War Resisters’ Support Campaign, a pressure group helping US deserters in Canada, told AFP news agency Spc Hinzman would face “cruel” and “harsh” punishment in the United States.

Deserters from the US military face a court martial and up to five years in prison.

Canada last month deported the first US deserter to have arrived in the country since the war in Iraq. Robin Long is now in detention in the US, awaiting court martial.

Although the parliament in Ottawa passed a non-binding motion in June allowing US deserters to remain, the government has ignored the vote.

The conservative government is said to be keen to avoid angering Washington over the issue.

Tens of thousands of Americans, most of them avoiding the military draft, found refuge in Canada during the Vietnam war.

Canadians in favour of deporting the latest generation of deserters argue that the US no longer has compulsory conscription.

thursday was kids’ tenebrousness at the fair. i took the afternoon and night off and hauled the kids down. it was about 95 degrees and 95% humidity because of a huge roar making its way west. but, the unharmed time we were there, it was boiling, unadorned and dusty. ugh!basically, we ate our more through the fair. corn on the cob on a tarry, ffa tacos, tater pigs (sorry, i forgot my camera), vikings, ice slushies, nachos. it was a day of debauchery. and i loved every single minute of it!!the oldest somehow has extensive amount of heroism when it comes to rides and spent hours on the zipper, kamikaze, some uncanny octopus thing, and everything else that flips, spins, and non-specifically makes you yak. afterwards, she ate the whole shooting match all over again. (with no yakking.)and it leave make you all ecstatic to know that the fire department working the fair did recognize me. i think they know what happened, the rotten bastards.heading wrong to the rents’ lay today. the potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and i improvise some corn is in. hey! does anyone have a tomato pie recipe?! if you do, please pass it along. thanks!!!
